Aratti Artworks is a place dedicated to showcase the different types of commissions and painting styles available for service, either digital or traditional techniques. Its founder, Tomas Aratti is an architect from Chile who has embarked on an adventure to follow his passion as a painter and illustrator. These pieces you see here are the first paintings and designs that have been exhibited outside Chile in a tour to USA on 2017. They speak, in a very personal way, of the relationship between mankind and mother nature. What you see here is born out of the immediate need to spread consciousness about how ungrateful we are as a species towards a living being that has supported and loved us since the dawn of our lives.
Tomás Araya is an architect and visual artist from Chile who emigrated to the US in 2017. Since then Tomás has been part of several Public art installations and conceptions, including Mural art, sculpture art and public visual art exhibitions. They deeply believe in art as a catalyst that encourages people to think, meditate and reimagine a world that is not necessarily the already established convention of society.
Tomás started getting involved in public art in 2017 when he was awarded a grant to fund the framing of 24 original pieces and ship them to exhibit for a month at Atacama Cultural Center, Chile. Later that year the pieces were presented at Indigenous Roots Cultural Arts Center in East St. Paul, MN. When visiting Minnesota, Tomás painted and exhibited two murals for Festival de las Calaveras 2017 at Intermedia Arts in Minneapolis. Returning to Minneapolis in the summer of 2018, Tomás got chance to work at Goodspace Murals for two giant mural projects where he met fellow muralists Liv and Andrés. In November of 2018, Tomás joined the art team who applied and won the Creative City Challenge grant for the summer of 2019. To this date this has been the biggest and most ambitious public art project Tomás has had the honor of participating in. They designed, built and installed nine pieces of art in downtown Minneapolis: five beautiful Alebrije sculptures and four flowers representing the four directions of navigation.
Description of the proposed art
Our proposed designs are a mixture of nature, indigenous cultures and fantasy. We believe the images should illustrate how diverse the world has become. Our concepts say that mother nature will always support us, as long as we embrace our own diversity and respect sacred cycles of the land. Also as well as we pay homage to the ancient Native people who protected this sanctuary of life, and still do. The proposed piece has a strong presence of animals and trees along the magical waters of the different environments of the planet. This primordial river that nurtures the journey of so many generations of immigrants with different backgrounds is the centerpiece of our mural design.
Our team believes public art creates dialogue and inspires action. This visual form of expression is important for the evolution of a community and the individual. It enables people to ride different trains of thought being materialized on the wall, and interpret it how they choose. We want people to look at the wall and envision a world where collaboration is born from love, respect, and passion.
